Default Fluid Leaking out of Axle Seal Still

Ok, so I replaced the Axle Seal on the drivers side of the tranny and I thought all was ok, but now fluid is seeping out of the new seal. What else could be wrong?

Well I hate to be the one to ask an obvious and probably silly question, but are you sure you used the correct seal? And are you sure the leak is coming from the seal?

It could be that the fluid is leaking out between the seal and the axle shaft. The axle shaft may be undersized, worn down, or something. You might have to replace the axle...

I would also look very close at the area around where the seal goes. There is an oring in the side cover that seals up against the channel plate, which is where the seal goes, and if the oring is going bad or wasnt installed properly fluid can slowly seep from it. The only way to replace that is by removing the side cover. I would clean it all off good with parts cleaner and make sure it is dry and look carefully where the leak is coming from, maybe snap a pic and post it up where the wet area is.

Ok, I took a pic of the leak, let me know if you need a better angle or something, kind of hard with the tie rod and sway bar in the way.

Edit: That was after I cleaned the area and let dry, then started the car and ran it through the gears for about 2 mins.

That definately looks like it is coming from the axle seal from that angle. Is it dry above the seal in that area? Your inner CV may have a grove worn into it or corrosion/rust causing it to leak. I hate to say it but you are going to have to take it back apart to find out. There is a roller bearing that the CV rides on that is just behind the seal. I would take a peak at that to make sure it looks in tact and look carefully at the CV shaft. You dont have any odd vibrations do you?

Yeah, I'm going to do that next, I have a spare drive cup I can throw in there and see if it still leaks. I also have a spare axle seal, so if thats the problem I can rip that one out and replace it again.
