Anyone here run one of these? I remember 3 or 4 guys from ClubGP have great luck with them unlike the Intense ones. I'm curious to hear more results on these. The GMR is the best no doubt, but you're talking $1,800 too.

I've been looking at these for awhile now. I honestly don't think the stock diff will ever been good enough for me. I've seen at least 5 "built" 4T65-HD trans at the track that couldn't do a 2 wheel peel. Personally, I'd be pissed having a $3,000 tranny that can't even let me do a two wheel peel. I don't want to feel this way when I get my built tranny installed.

I installed an EP diff in one of my transmissions about a year and a half ago. The guys name on cgp is Tweeter. I know he had some other issues with his engine and never really heard if he made it to the track but it was an XPZ setup and ran pretty strong. This diff is the only option I leave people with, BUT I will NOT warranty the trans with any limited slip diff installed. EP also gives you 100% ZERO warranty on these diffs, comforting ehh? And as an added bonus you have to send in your diff first and I waited over 3 weeks to get it back when I was told one week turnaround. I liked the way it looked better than the Intense diffs at the time, but it is still the same concept and is still going to cause undo wear during every day driving which is going to put debris in the pan. Even guys with limited slip diffs dont always get two wheel burnouts. It really boils down to this and this is what I tell people.... If this is a LIMITED use car, ie weekends or strip only and not many miles per year then you will probably be OK with an LSD, but again even they are no promise to two wheel burnouts.

It is not the clutch material that bothers me, that is soft material. It is the large metal plates in the center with springs pushing them against the side gears..... Any time you turn a corner, go around a slight curve on the highway, etc, those gears spin at different speeds which causes those plates to wear into the side gears and create metal debris. Without getting really creative there is no way around this. This is why the Torsen or GM racing diff is the best way to go, but yes it has a very hefty price tag to go with it. Those diffs use worm gears that will bind when wheel spin occurs. There is nothing to wear and no undo stress going around corners.

no metal shavings is definatly a good thing

Ive been thru three LSD so far and will not put another one back in my tranny unless I get the GM one. I ran the CYA diffs and all three took out my tranny each time. Ive since put a stock diff back in and almost always get a two wheel burnout. Ive raced the car for 2 yrs now and can pull 1.7 60's with it. I recently pulled the stocker out to check it and found that I broke the cotter pin that holds the shaft in place. I replaced the cotter pin and have no issues with it now.

Thanks for the info Trannyman. Guess i'll hold off. Have you seen a GMR diff Trannyman? What are your opinions on it? I wish it didn't cost so damn much...

I havent seen one personally but I think they were noted to still fail under high power with hard launches and track passes but i cant confirm this as i dont know. The very hefty price tag sure makes them a turnoff though! This style diff is the way to go for an attempt at getting two wheel traction though you often get this with a stock diff and a proper burnout.
