Default 2006 GP GT - Modding research

Hello,

Just bought a stock 06 GP GT and doing some research before doing any mods to it.

Will be a daily driver, trying to keep with mods that increase power / fuel economy. Keeping A/C and Cruise control are a must.

Mostly Decided mods
Headers / Downpipe
New Airbox
Lower thermostat
1.9 rockers

Considering -
ZZP Aluminum heads / matching upper intake
85mm MAF
Cat/Downpipe-back Exhaust

criticism / suggestions / thoughts greatly appreciated>=D

I am strongly considering the ZZP aluminum heads but would like some feedback for them being a daily driver and would like to know how well they work with stock cam / 1.9 rockers

Well off to work,
GeeBee

you dont really need the heads. deff not for the money.

headers, rockers (i love my rollers) intake, good tune and a smaller pulley. the maf is a good idea because the refreshes quicker and it will be more accurate.

right now i have intake, headers and rockers. its decent for a street car and im untuned. should be tuned pretty soon with some more boost

also read the KR stickey. it will explain ALOT, when you drop pullies your gonna want a scan gauge.

if your thinking about heads, take the two you have to a shop and have them ported. As far as an intake, make your own. Im not sure what your d/b wire t/b looks like but if u can just stick a cone on the end of it.

our maf is external and would need to be in the middle of that. i would not recemend it tho. my car is such a slouch from all that hot engine air that it gets like that.

FINALLY!! YOU SHOW IT BISH!! LOL AWESOME!!

Here's my open cone...but keep in mind to run them you have to be heavily modded or it will hurt you. Some like to argue but a bolt-ons GTP can't run a open cone and benefit

Make your own intake and keep the filter in the fender...get headers...if money isn't a issue...then ZZP...if not get some Pacesetter's and have them welded like I did or some SSAC's. Heads are a bit much for a very small bolt-ons car...I'd do it like so...

180* T-Stat
Custom Fenderwell Intake
85mm MAF
Custom Tuned PCM
Headers of some kind
1.9:1 Roller Rockers w/ LS6 Valve Springs/Retainers
Intense-Racing Poly Mounts (Upper and Lower)
3.4" or 3.5" Supercharger Pulley
TransGo Shift Kit

Any farther then that...get a Stage 2 Intercooler, 3.1" Pulley, and a new tune

Thanks much for the input

I've decided its prolly best for me to have the tuning software so i'm doing a bit of reading on that atm>=D I tried starting with the OpenTuner 3800 and had to go to the HPTuners site and dig up thier intro / acronym list.

Couple more Qs

Are FWI's prone to the elements at all?

At what point should i consider upping the factory injectors?

FWI...only if you are going through huge puddles and drive in very dirty conditions. Cover it with a filter condom if you care about it...

Injectors...you won't need them unless you go sub 3.1" pulley.

Cool,

Spent most of the day reading stuff,

Looking to get a laptop + hptuners, but is it true the 06+s aren't supported by hptuners and you have to use an 05 pcm that requires a gauge to be swapped out to utilize? I've not purchased anything yet and sent a mail to hptuners regarding 2006+ pcm support.

it changes all the time. im never happy with it. plus its so simple to swap around, why not.

and my car does get alot of dirt and grime in the iner fender. but some duct tape on the inside of the fender should clear that up. i can look down threw my fender and see my tire, so alot of things it picks up from the rode is getting thrown into there. just seal it up good.
