If you can afford it, some kind of custom tune PCM is the only way to go if your going to mod. Cookie Cutter PCM's are good if you have the exact mods required, but throw one thing extra in the mix, and it can go south quick on you. I dont want to say that this guys PCM's are bad, or that guys is better, but I will tell you that NO MATTER WHICH ONE YOU USE, YOU MUST SCAN. KR is your enemy as well as getting to lean.

You should always scan in various weather conditions, hot, cold, wet, dry, etc. Once you know where your car runs for various weather conditions you really dont need to scan all the time, but dont scan once when you install and its 40 deg outside and think its all good.....summertime comes and hits 100 deg, and your tune changes drastically.

No, they dont unless they have changed something. As far as I know, they are completely open. One of the first things I did after getting my tuner was download the bin file so I would have a back up. The next thing I did was buy a spare PCM.

From what I have seen, the MPG doesn't look bad on the DIC because they play with the Injector Flow Rates. So while your MPG may look the same on your dash, figure it by hand and you will notice the decrease in MPG.

So to the OP, figure a few tanks of gas by hand (the correct way) and compare these to your MPG before the PCM. I am interested.

I have a ZZP PCM and an open cone intake with no other mods. I've thoroughly enjoyed mine for the past year. I'm still pulling in 34 mpg on the highway.

Thats dang good mileage. I hope once I get my tranny fixed I'll be back up in that range like before but I think Ive taken a hit due to the tranny not being in the best of shape and needing rebuilt.

No wonder you have hardly any mods. I'm lucky to get 28 on the hwy. I have gotten 34 before but he wind was at my back blowing 40mph.

Is the 34mph what you DIC says or what you figure by hand?

No matter what the DIC is allways off. Its an average or estimate. My DIC always says i burn 1 gallon or more less than i fill up with at the pump.
