| So in my recent smoking of a 2008 GTP in my 2002, I became curious as to which generation...or specific year(s) are the fastest GTP's built yet. I know I have the series II in a 02...are there any that are faster than mine stock for stock? I'm still quite new to knowing a lot, mostley cuz I grew up in Fords, and just picked this car up. Also what's the best mod..besides intake/exhuast for these cars besides pully. I'd like more throwback, and the shifting in these sucks to be honest...I can't downshift from a roll even when I throw down the gear. 04-08 bodystyle GTP was the car...not exactly sure which year...damn thing looked off the lot though

| 2008's only have the Naturally Aspirated 3.8L motors I think, and a tuned pcm will help with the shifting.... Even thought the 04+ models have 20 more HP, they are sightly heavier and I think all of them run about the same as the 97 - 03

| 04 and 05. usally has a little badge under the gtp logo that says compition group. physical differances are 17' wheels and red calipers. the only diff that i know of from a regular gtp is 3.29 gears, stiffer suspension, and paddle shift |

. Tap Shift 2. Magnasteer II 3. HUD 4. Performance Tuned Suspension 5. Light weight Machined Finished 10 spoke wheels (could be upgraded to 5 spoke wheels Curved Chrome in 04 and Polished 5 spoke wheels in 05) 6. Red Brake Calipers (brakes are the some of all 04+ GP) 7. Stabilitrak Sport 8. Competition Group badge on the trunk under the GTP badge PN 10342485 9. Comp G badges on the doors (late 04 and all 05's have these) PN 10350911 10. 3.29:1 final gear ratio 11. P225/55VR17 Performance Tires 12. 5 button DIC 13. 142 top speed limit (126 for GTP's without Comp G) RPO code was WS6 and was only available in 2004 and 2005 and could only be added to GTP's. |

| So I have been doing some reading around myself today and the numbers tell me that I should have lost. It was a GTP and they are .1 sec faster in the 0-60, and with 20 extras horses should out run me in the long run, but I just kept going into some high numbers....he was pretty upset about it and maybe it was driver error (which is hard to do in an automantic) or he threw some mods that did more damgage than good, or he is cheap and decided not to run the required premium fuel. I also really like the interior of the new ones but not a fan of the exterior. Thanks for the input...

| 97's seemed to have more factory freaks

| 97-98's had a more restrictive intake though. Comp G would be the fastest, at least until high speeds like mentioned above. Would be faster in the 1/4 mile but i doubt it's too much of a difference. |

| Are you asking about all time fastest GP's? cause a 1970 GP had 370HP with 500 lb-ft of torque at 3100 rpm. Pontiac Grand Prix - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

| idk about the 99's. as far as the comp G's not as good on top end well ive done 140 with mine with more rpms left. i think they are geared pretty good for topend pulls. 3rd pulls hard to 125 then 4th will go on for a while. how fast are you guys trying to go?? |

Comp G was the fastest GTP. The GXP is faster though, obviously. 70's Tires, suspention and weight FTL.
