I think ill just stay outta these kinda threads from now on. People have there own opinions to these kind of subjects and it seems it is near impossible to redirect there train of thoughts. And yes this includes me.

I think you are right on this one. I am in the same boat as you. I guess my first point in my original posting was that we need to look out for ourselves on the highway. Its not always the safest place in the world.

I did not mean to run you off But I guess its safe to say we can agree to disagree

I have to agree with you both. We can sit here until times end and say this probably happened or this did, but if your not sitting in the seat beside the truck driver, no one will know for sure. Because if it was something he could have prevented, he'll come up with some story to try and lessen the charges or it could have been some medical problem. Only the driver and the great man upstairs will only know the real truth.

oh yea i got ya...no harm done and i wouldnt say i was run off. I just kind of got mad a little when I thought about it like this. If it were a gtp that had the same accident and killed 2 people because they werent paying attention and was a member on this fourm I know i would be supportive and would do anything I could to help him or her as well as all of the other parties. But here we are bashing him pretty much. I mean im sure he feels worse than he ever has and probably ever will feel again....and if he doesent well them i got a cupple words for him.

What i see is the truck drivers on there forum are blaming us ''4 wheelers'' and all of us on our forum are blaming the 18 wheelers.

We all need to accept this as hard as it may be.get along.give each other the same respect. and improve on our driving so we can hopefully prevent this from happening again.Im a firefighter for my city. I deal with people's mistakes all the time. but i dont go there telling them hey you should feel like ****...you just killed this person...but instead i go there and help. and i think that is what we should do.

We all have different opinions because were different people. thats normal and expected. so lets all of us on this forum learn something from this and improve our driving habits and be more carefull!!!

Like I had said earlier, I drove for 9 years and seen it on both ends. Truck drivers weaving in and out of traffic trying to get their load dropped off quicker, just like the 4-wheelers doing the same. When it comes to a accident involving a big truck, 50% of the time it's the trucks fault and the other 50 the cars. Most people always assume it's always the truck because of it's size. Like TDC said, we have to quit playing the blame game and just start covering our own 6's.

I agree with you wholeheartidly. By no means are 4 wheelers exempt from any accidents that have involved tractor trailers. I am quite sure there have been their fair share over the years and will continue to be for many years to come. But in this particular case, I think its a little more cut and dry.

And I agree again we ALL need to be more aware of our driving habits regardless of being a 4 wheeler or an 18 wheeler

How about we wait to see what the investigation report says?

Like I said before, anything is possible here...but I find it very difficult to not fault the driver of the truck in this case. It almost clearly looks like negligence on his part.

Apparently Jeffy boy wasn't paying attention. All too common in semi accidents, although semi-drivers will never admit it.
When big rigs are driving too fast for conditions + Not enough safe distance +
Not paying attention the end result is dead people in cars...
Jeff was going to kill someone eventually just a matter of when and how many. I wonder how many close calls he had before this one....

--------------------------------------------------------------
St. Louis Post Dispatch.. 07/17/2008

Jeffrey Knight, 49, who was unhurt, flew back to Alabama on Wednesday while police continue to investigate the accident and prosecutors consider criminal charges against him.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said that Knight had a clean driving record and that neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be involved. But at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, authorities say, Knight was inattentive and drove his 2005 Freightliner loaded with scrap aluminum into and over 10 vehicles backed up on eastbound Highway 40 (Interstate 64) just west of Interstate 270.

Two people — Lydia Miller, 55, of Canton, Mo., and Charles "Keith" Cason, 55, of Caseyville — were killed instantly.

Miller was in a van headed with fellow Amish from northeastern Missouri to Tennessee for a funeral of a friend.

Two people in that van were among the three people in critical condition Thursday morning at St. John's Mercy Medical Center. They are Miller's sister-in-law Susan Borntreger, 52, of Canton, and Alvin Mast, 88, of Kahoka, Mo.
