So I got a visitor today. His name is "Great Black Wasp"

The one I posted drinks nectar and is harmless to humans (at least the females as in the picture are). Males are very rare and try to avoid humans, though they can sting. Not particularly nasty.

The long tail is for laying eggs in burrows.

I have been stung by the great black, it stings, but no where near as bad as a red wasp.
just my opinion. I get stung by the red all the time. sucks.

I bet....I haven't been stung in years. Last time was when I ventured onto a nest of bumblebees. THAT sucks.
