Default Review: Crue Fest

I am in rehab today. Not from od'ing on the alcoholic beverages but rather because I forgot to eat. For 6 hours.

This show was at an outdoor venue. It just so happened to rain for two days straight. Right up to the moment Trapt stepped onto the stage. Traffic was ridiculous, which in turn made me just barely in the nick of time. Just walking (or should I say running) from the car to the ticket checkers I was completely soaked. And in my rush, I left my freakin' phone in the car, so no pics for me. This I will curse myself for until my dying breath.

People were just coming in during Trapt, so they did not get the response they well deserved. I actually thought I had fourth row tickets. I didn't. I had front row, as this venue blocks the first couple of rows for handicapped, so there wasn't anyone in front of me at all. Just the metal gate separating me from the pit. Now, why, you ask was I not in the pit? Six hours standing on concrete is not my idea of a good time, no matter how much I drink. I was perfectly content to be in the first row of actual seats, though I do confess, I was on my feet for the last couple of hours. Hell, it's a rock show. How can you sit down? Either way, I was still close enough to the stage to have a very good view of everything and a very good time.

For those thinking of going...GET YOUR TICKETS. Our venue sold out. The only thing left was lawn, and even that, despite the two days of rain, was completely packed. And we are talking about a Sunday night. Each band seemed to attempt to one up the one before. You will not be disappointed by the energy from Papa Roach or the re-vamped versions of Buckcherry's more mainstream tracks. You would never know from the smile on his face during both of his bands that the great Nikki Sixx turns 50 this year. Damn, he was having a good time. Mick Mars is still my favorite guitarist (much to the dismay of my date, who is the guitarist for one of their opening bands), and Tommy and Vince will always be Tommy and Vince.

I have been to a lot of live shows, most especially in the past few years. I try not to miss much. I would rank this in the top 3, to be joined by Rob Zombie and Alice in Chains unplugged.
