Default Potentially stupid question...

Did I say potentially? How about absolutely?

To my knowledge, in order to have the heated seat option in the 2004 GTP, one must have the leather seats... and just to have heated seats I have almost considered purchasing the leather seats and sticking them in the car and hooking them up and yada yada...

But here is the real question...

So... I know you can purchase seat warmers that you can install basically by taking the seat covers off, running wires, etc... But I don't want to have some stupid switch hanging out of place...

WHAT are the possibilities of rigging it so that, if I were to purchase a unit that has the buttons for heated seats, the after market butt heaters could be operated via that the factory switches?

Unless I am missing something and you can in fact get stock cloth seats that are heated. I just HATE the look and feel of leather.

It would be fairly simple. all you would need to know is how that switch works. which pins are for what. and you could wire any kit up to it.

that is not a stupid question

In the 97-03's the heated seat switch is down on the center console in front of the shifter, is it not in the same location on the 04+ models? If it is then just buy some spare OEM switches and a switch plate. You'll have to cut them in half and then mold or glue them back together. They make plastic welding kits for such tasks.

If they arent in the same spot and dont use the same switches, then I would have to see the set up as it is in on 04+ to get some ideas or maybe others with the 04+ models can chime in with some assistance.

Be easy to do. Use a relay to activate your seat warmer, and the relay would be activated by the factory heated seat wires. Done.

Yeah the switch on the 04's + GP's is located on the ac/heat/fan panel. Cars without heated seats have 3 buttons here, one to activate Ac, one to circulate cabin air, one for rear defroster... in those with the heated seat option, there are five, one on each outer in that operates driver/passenger seat.
