I was wondering what most people use or even better if anyone has tested a few different brands.
I'm currently using Autometer gauges, but I've lost faith in them after having a few of them fail on me, I was going to go with the Prosport gauges, but now I've been reading up a lot about their electrical senders not being the most reliable (most say it takes a few to get one that works right). Right now I’m also leaning towards the Stewart Warner Performance series, but I can’t seem to find anyone that’s running them (we use SW avation gauges in our dirt cars as they can take a serious beating & not break after 1 race like the autometers), so I really don’t know much about that line.
That actually brings up another question, would you look at the electrical ones (mainly interested in the ones with high boost recall) or stay with a mechanical one? Is the electrical one just added bling that’s taking away from accuracy?
For the Record I’ve got an Aeroforce & and a HPTuner with a laptop for data logging, I just want a boost gauge so that I can keep an eye on it during normal driving.

Wow I would think Autometer guages would be pretty accurate.

Never had a problem with my Autometer gauge. I have a mechanical for boost and it's worked great for me

I used to think that about Autometers (being accurate) until I started racing dirt circle track and 1st had my new autometer oil pressure gauge fail on the 1st night out and then the water temp quit 2 races later (needle actuall fell off the oil pressure). Funny thing is that I could look @ 75 different dirt race cars and outside of the use of Monster Tachs you’d be lucky to find 4 or 5 of those cars that use autometer gauges..they just can’t seem to take the vibration & abuse…again my 15 plus year old set of beaten up SW gauges are still dead on accurate, but they look ghetto and are mechinical, plus a boost gauge is not available). I also had 2 more fail in my offroad rig (again less than 1 year old) as well as other buddies having issues with them in their race cars, so I guess you could say I'm quite bitter against Autometer now.
I've read a lot about autometer mechanical boost gauges being terribly inaccurate lately and this is what sparked to want to ditch the last of my autometers.
The problem is that Autometer spends so much on advertising and contingency point funds that everyone assumes that they are the best, so it’s hard to find anyone using anything else.

i heard of these new gauges from this website . plxdevices.com . it looks pretty good . they got a bunch of good reviews at the sema show in vegas .

SW are a good gauge (I see they are aircraft type which are built a ton better than automotive ones too)

What about the Interceptor Aeroforce tech gauges ?

Before I got booted off CGP someone had posted about a new company making gauges that were out of this world and not a whole lot more expensive than Autometer. There were a cross between Autometer and the plx gauges mentioned above.

If anyone knows of which gauges I am talking about please PM me the link to them. The reason I mention this is because I remember thinking, after reading about them and their sensors, they should be highly accurate gauges.

Anyway, if anyone has knows which ones Im talking about, send me the link please. I had planned on getting a couple and now I cant find the website anymore.

Any digital gauge. MAP readings FTW. If you're reading more boost go to a 3-bar MAP.

I'm going with the VDO Vision series.

And for what it's worth I found a very cheap place to buy guages online....

I have AEM gauges, including the boost/boost controller. I had an Autometer boost gauge, but it eventually stopped going back to 0. Digital gauges don't have this problem.

When I had my GTP I had 3 Autometer Phantom gauges - boost, oil pressure, tranny temp. The boost gauge started reading funny after only a few months and eventually never sat at zero again when the car was off. The oil pressure sending unit crapped out on me.

If I ever need gauges on the Camaro, I'm going with Stewart-Warner hands down. A good friend of mine is an engineer for Stewart-Warner (well, their owners Maxima Technologies) right here in Lancaster PA, so I have gotten to see the inside of their gauges and they are FAR superior to AutoMeter. Not to mention a larger face display in the same size casing which makes them much easier to read.

Autometers seem to be fairly accurate, but they've broken on three of my friends cars (srt-fo, T-Bird SC, and a Scooby STI). When they should be standing straight up (no boost), they read about 5 on the Vac side.

Which ones scooz? I remember a discussion on cgp and there was a link to a site that had some awesome but not so expensive gauges. Seems like they were digital but Im not sure. Do you have any links? I dont think it was the PLX gauges. I remember thinking that for about 25% more than what I paid for autometer used gauges I could have brand new digital gauges. PLX doesnt fit that.

Defi - Gauges & Head up displays

that is their website. they are all electronic, and with their controller, they can actually log at specific points in the rpm range that you program. only issue with them is they are CRAZY expensive, at least in my eyes.

Those are 2 that I've come accross that seem to be quite good for the price.

Really leaning towards the Stewart Warner Performance gauges, but I'd like to know more about them, I've even looking on utube for videos & came up with nothing. Anyone on here running them & have any pics (mainly intrested in night shots & the silver ones if possible).
