Default 08 Corvette tranny and Current Corvette owners

1) I just saw underneath the 08 corvette. I didn't know the tranny is actually positioned in the back of the car at the rear wheels.

2) Overall, I was thinking about following the "only live once" principle and purchasing an 05+ Corvette.

How many people on here own one? Is the insurance really that frightening? Owning a second car helps? Maintenance? Concern of theft anytime you park it anywhere?

the trans has been back there on all the c6 vettes, they seem to be a bit better than the previous ones as far as repair (the c4 made me a ton of money at the dealership)

If I remember correctly, C% corvettes' had the trans in the rear too, better for weight distribution and traction in the rear(all that weight on the tires)

C5' are the same yes. insurance....it is no different than owning an Fbody. if you have another vehicle....make that your primary. in some cases this helps.

but it all depends on your driving record.

That helps. Was always worred regarding insurance. If it is like owning an FBody, I should be ok regarding cost. I'll make the GP the primary and the corvette luxury.

Driving record? (Hides head). I have a few points I have to wait to go away. I'll take a VIN from an existing vette and give it to my insuranc company to get a rough estimate w/ the points I have.
