I've owned both cars and I still love the SHO. Better sound system, seats, handling, climate control ftw!, the top end, and the V8 surprises most. The gtp is just a newer car with less miles and faster, better mpg, not much else. So I will vouch for SHO's and say they are a good car, ahead of their time too. I just wish there was a better aftermarket parts available for them, thats why I got the GTP.
my uncle had a 98 sho.it had a mean sound and it was fast, dont know what he did to it.i always wanted the 95 sho.i heard talks about bringin it back with a new engine ,a 3.5L ecoboost di twin turbocharged v6 producin 415 hp,400 lb ft tq.i heard it from bringbackthesho.com,u know how long they've been talkin bout reviving the sho.it would be cool tho,i'd buy one if i could afford it.

235hp and 230lb torque and a 6800 rpm redline.

I have a cai that really screams after 3400 rpm's because thats when the secondaries in the intake open up. When they designed it, the engine was capable of 300hp or so, they didn't think the tranny would hold it so they revised the intake and top engine so it came out at 235hp. At 235hp they were still ahead of alot of their competition, so it was acceptable.

The aftermarket parts suck because you really have to make everything yourself, maybe a y-pipe and tuner are available, but thats about it.

Yah, tell me if you can find anything besides a y-pipe or some serious power adders... lol they have parts for gen 1-2's but not much for v8's.

Basically, $500 for a cookie cutter tune, $50 intake, $150 for y-pipe, $500 for nitrous and thats about as far as it will go.

your new here so you dont know but no one that i know on here will give you crap for a semmingly stupid question.this isnt club gp.you didint know so you asked. as far as smoking the tires in big clouds of smoke from a dead stop on a stock to moderatly modified gtp...probably not guna happen...spin um smoke um a little,sure...If you use the parking brake it may help some....I think the big clouds you may be refering to is when they are at the track in the water box with the p-brake set and spinning them there...

does that help any? also take the traction control off if you plan on doing a burnout because the torque management in the pcm is higher with that turned on resulting not only in less power to the wheels but it also at times prevents the tires from spinning....hence the name...traction control

yeah with mine having a 3.2 pulley and supporting mods if i punched it it would smoke pretty good and im sure if my p-brake worked it would smoke a whole lot more....but man when it was stock...and i punched it from a dead stop...all it would do is squeal untill about the middle of first
