iTrader: (0) ![]() | Ok so i posted this on my local gp club. I am making a couple hoods(4) and they are knock off's of what is out there and one is my own design. the reson decided to do this is because i have found that they can be made cheaper then they are being sold. i have noticed that they are selling for 600 a pop and it only cost about 200 to make 3 hoods. Well when i get move into my new house. i will post some pics what i have so far at the shop. One of the hoods s a ws6 style, the other is a four vent and the i am doing inferno style for the '97-03 bidy style and the last one is a twin scoop that is also a cowl hood, well let me know if this has any interest here? |

iTrader: (4) ![]() | Good to see someone playing with this idea (especially in WI). Are these complete and functional hoods you are talking about or are they simply stock hoods with scoops, etc. molded on/modified stock? Yes, the actual production cost of a hood is lower, but a company will have lots of overhead to roll into the costs. The molds for these are quite expensive, not to mention wages, materials, utilities, etc. I like the hoods currently offered, but I too would like to see something else offered and haven't found "my" hood yet. Good luck and keep us up to date. |

iTrader: (0) ![]() | OK to answer the question about will it just be a scoop molded on a stock hood NO! They will use the stock framing from a stock hood is all. Doing that so its lighter but at the same time you can use stcok shocks and hood latch. As to fuction, well it will be open to where it forces air into the engine bay and pulls heat out the rear(heat extractors) but as for hooking a cone up to the scoop not yet they wont be. but as for he vents like i said yes they will be open. And to the guys that will be interested when i get these done and post pics i will need you all to send me a im telling me the year and make of your car and what type of hood you want |
