Default HID info

Just got an email back from one of the companies I was thinking of dealing with for HID's (Xenonworx is the company) I had sent them all the info backinblack had, as well as comments in various threads on various forums. Today I get this email "Hey Stephen,

Yes, we have found a solution. I have a kit that can fix your problems. This is the problem with that kit, it has an extremely high defective rate. All the tilt kits that are made in China have a horrible defective rate and I would not dare sell to you guys a kit that I think may have the slightest chance of failing. Sorry. If you wish you may just buy the kits from Ebay and take your chances. For the moment we are working on improving the beam patterns on all our dual beam systems but nothing in the near future so I am not able to help you out. I could just sell you guys the kits and then make money but I rather just tell you the truth. I hope you understand. Allright then man let me know if I can help you with anything else. Thanks.

Christian A. Leon" so it looks like if you want working high beams you have to stick with the old bulb for now

Yup.

But those have have bought the ones off ebay and only have low beam only are not complaining too much. Thinking about going that route...or fabbing something of my own up that was suggested.

Like the high beams in our cars were ever worth a damn from the get go? Not like HIDs were ever gonna improve on that mistake!! I purchased just the low beam HIDs and that was good enough for me.

Of course when I get my state inspections, I just pop in the orginal 9007 bulbs for the day the then remove them once I have passed. Simple

Take a look at my lengthy HID thread where I purchased the VVME kit, but had to modify the piss out of it to get the best results:

Brian's Ultimate HID thread.

The trick is that you need 2-piece HID assemblies, so you can make your own adapter ring. I have both low and high functions. The lows are very good, but not perfect (yet). The highs still need a little work. JCPrix and I have put a LOT of time and effort working on this particular kit. VVME has ceased responding to my inquiries and had provided overall POOR support for their kit. The quality of the kit is decent enough for Chinese manufactured, just designed poorly for 9007/9004 applications.

In conclusion, the ONLY way to emulate a tungsten 9007 bulb with an HID burner is to tilt the arc tube into the correct position. No two ways about it. Unless someone develops an arc tube with 4 electrodes, and they are able to "jump" the spark from one pair to the other, only .075" apart. (I just copyrighted that idea by the way... )

So what's the word on the WBS and ZZP kits? I read that thread and there's no answer to that question.

I don't know exactly which kits they sell. Any of the HID+Halogen kits will have no usable high beam pattern, and no way to fix it. Any of the twin-tube HID burners will not have good high beams either, also with no way to fix it. The retracting types are usable, but you'll probably need to modify the retraction length to work almost "well".

Really, the only GOOD way to go about this, is to engineer a reliable tilting kit. Period.
