headlight patter alignment.

This is a discussion on headlight patter alignment. within the Appearance forums, part of the W Body Tech category; are the patters supposed to criss-cross? or be straight forward...my headlights have a huge gap between the inside of the ...

Question headlight patter alignment.

are the patters supposed to criss-cross? or be straight forward...my headlights have a huge gap between the inside of the housing and bumper...

They're supposed to be straight forward. If you have projectors, you won't be able to adjust them so they're straight forward without creating ridiculous gaps (or jamming the edge of the sidemarker into your fender).

i just have the stockers right now...looking at buying the spyders next week... so that HUGE gap is normal?...

I thought the lights were suposed to be a touch to the right, as not to blind oncoming traffic. but either way NO huge gaps.

if i were to adjust them to have no gaps, the patterns woiuld create a x pattern...

I think @ 100 or so yds your low beams should just meet each other. Just chiming in here. would love to see what everyone else has to say.

No. The left hand side is supposed to be a little lower, to not blind oncoming traffic.

riceburner: There are two tabs on the back of the bracket that need to fit into the metal bracket on the car. One of them is easy to miss. If both of these aren't inserted, you could wind up with huge gaps, and a lot of shaking. Even at full adjustment, I don't think I could get huge gaps from the stock headlights.

The only other thing I can think of is the bulbs. Do you have HID? If so, the focal point could be off slightly.
