OMG, drivers ed was SUCH a joke to me!! Most everyone was either sleeping or doing there own thing while the instructor tried to keep everyone under control. If someone failed the test they were allowed to take it again... THE SAME DAY, how stupid is that?!! there are so many things going wrong the youth in America nowadays and I believe most of the problem is that there is nearly nothing required of us, just think, if that test was much harder then the kids would HAVE to pay attention in class and not mess around, otherwise they fail and have to spend all that money to try again! and dont even get me started on how crappy our public education has gotten!!!

btw I am 18 years old.

actually, the last few comments seemed to be insulting. He's been convinced to not do the lights, but teh posts keep coming. If he ain't gonna do it, it's all done.
Just had to add. ^___^
None of the responses above were insulting in anyway. Trust me if Street Wolf was unjustly insulting him, I'd say so.

The posts keep coming because he keeps quoting false facts and is still, "Really guys I'm not gonna do it, but I wouldn't get in trouble if I did or just a slap on the wrist." We are, on occassion, actually looking out for the best interests of everyone in and out of this community. Most of those posting have the life experience to tell him. Yes, I'm sure to another teen it does sound like we are talking down to him. Completely the opposite if it was actually being taken as it should.

The only true statement he has made was the crashes involving alcohol. Yes, 15-20 year olds have less alcohol related accidents than 21+. Quite obviously due to the fact that their access to alcohol isn't as great as the 21+ group. The teens getting in wrecks now are only one step away from the new legal drinkers getting in accidents then.

I'm sure you won't do it and you seem to be taking this seriously. Especially since you went from cop lights and illegally pulling people over to neons and train horns... How much attention do you need? LOL.

Quote:
Teen drivers have the highest fatal crash risk of any age group. Per mile traveled, they have the highest involvement rates in all types of crashes, from those involving only property damage to those that are fatal. The problem is worst among 16 year-olds, who have the most limited driving experience that often results in risk-taking behind the wheel.

Compared with crashes of older drivers, those of teenagers more often involve driver error.

Excessive speed is a factor in higher crash rates among 16-year-old drivers.

More fatal crashes of teenage drivers involve only the teen's vehicle. Typically, these involve high speed and/or driver error.

Fatal crashes among teens are more likely to occur when other teenagers are in the car. The risk increases with every additional passenger. In 2003, 59 percent of teenage passenger deaths happened in vehicles driven by another teenager.

Although this is a problem among drivers of all ages, it's actually less of a problem for drivers ages 16 and 17. In 2003, the estimated percent of fatally injured passenger vehicle drivers of this age who had blood alcohol concentrations (BACs) at or above 0.08 percent was 16 percent.

This is a high-risk activity for beginners. Per mile driven, the crash rate for teenagers driving at night with passengers is 4 to 5 times more likely than teenagers who drive alone during the day.

Teenagers generally are less likely to use safety belts than adults. In 2003, 57 percent of 16- to 20-year-old passenger vehicle occupants killed in crashes were not wearing safety belts.
We wish all of our members to be safe and make sound choices. Are all of mine? Um, not by a long shot. Were my choices in my teens responsible for me or the general public? Hell no! Happy modding and make sure those blue and reds have no reason to be behind you.

Knowledge is not an insult.

[quote=Street Wolf;58343]These two statements right here prove you lack maturity and the brains to be driving a car, let alone one that has any sort of power.

You don't think you can be convicted as an adult becuase your only sixteen hm? You do realize what a Felony is right? Rape, murder, kidnapping..... impersonating a police officer...

Also, I could care less how you drive. The way you act and the fact that you even considered putting red and blues on your car and using them becuase it 'Would be Fun' gives me a good idea though.

Grow up kid.

how is that not a inlsult i said even before this statement that i wouldnt do it and he just kept going. how is sayng i dont have the brains to drive not affenceive. i would think any one would take affence to that. and i did

but i dont realy care what he has to say because i no im a good driver i dont need his opinoin i would rather he not respond if he is going to be insulting witch he is.

OMG! Tyler, Lowlyfe was actually making a joke out of his comment hence the emote. Even I can see that.

Now YOU go out of your way and call them "dicks?" I find that more offensive than someone calling you out on your maturity level. In Street's and Lowlyfe's posts did they call you a "dick" or something assinine like that?

Sure Street questioned your maturity level. NO DOUBT! But you kept insisting it was OK to break the law cause you are a minor. But then you had a bunch of replies by other people stating how you CAN be tried as an adult. I even went as far as posting a nice post at the end of this thread.

But now you go out of your way to start name calling people who didnt even do anything. I think the part about your maturity level you boasted about earlier, has lost a few points.

I am not gonna sit here and call you names, but I will call you out for your unthoughtful comments and illogical rationalization of how you can get away with breaking the law. If you don't believe us? Then just go find any Officer of the law and tell him what your intentions are and ask him honestly what would happen to you.

First off, I'm rarely on the same side as Street Wolf. This has been quite constructive and helpful of him. He is often, how shall I say it, blunt. It doesn't matter to anyone that you said, "I won't do it." Mostly because you followed up every one of them with, but.... Then incorrectly stating false "facts" repeatedly proved you weren't informed or experienced (or had some harmful influences giving you your information) as it related to the subject. He took your replies how most of us did, that you weren't taking them seriously.

Above all, this is a forum. Don't ask for opinions or as you stated, "if any of u guys have any thoughts just let me no" only to follow it up once you get them with, "I don't need his opinion."

First, know who you are talking to. I got my first GP before you were born. A 1976, the year I was born. I bought my first 97-03 GP when you were like seven and have been helping the community since day one!! I am also one of the largest defenders of customization in the entire GP community. My only rules, off the top of my head: It be safe and it be quality workmanship. Beyond that I always push for everyone to express themselves.

So basically you wanted everyone to not give opinions, let you keep quoting falsehoods, and pat you on the back? Seriously, your offensive posts above only further back up other's opinions that you are not conducting yourself in a mature manner.

Are you really that incapable of having an internet conversation that you can't handle me quoting facts, laws, requirements, etc.? If my posts have been picking on you, I'd hate to see how you respond to your teachers. I fully admit I love a good debate, but there has been no such occurence in this case. Only one side has had anything useful to contribute...

Oh, just to let you know. While angrily lashing out at those trying to help you, you broke two forum rules.

Rule 2, Language: If it cant be said on daytime TV, don't say it here (being creative is fine, but don't spell it out...examples of being creative...A$$, don't be a Richard, etc)

Rule 3, Bashing: Friendly debate is fine, and fun ribbing is fine, but crossing the line into making comments that their sole purpose is to hurt or degrade a person is not acceptable.

Finally, generally LOL, , , are consider humor or sarcasm. Maybe as you mature and gain experience you'll learn that. But as you request, I will refrain from helping you in the future while you try to "play" cars. Probably not, since I don't hold grudges so move forward and represent yourself in a respectful and intelligent manner. All is well with the intraweb.

P.S. Well stated James!!

now i know ur a cop JC? I has a question. lol
in Hartford, CT., red tinted lights are only allowed on the rear of a vehicle, and yellow tinted lights are only allowed on the front (except like license plate lights). Is that true in pretty much all states or is there some lee-way between how these are run? *shrugs*

Like tinted red headlights? Only reason I could imagine these would be illegal is because they are used for emergency vehicles. Other than that I have never had an issue with it here.
