Is there some sort of coating on factory '97 tails? there's some sort of clearcoat on the tails on my GP, that's starting to flake off... (under the flaking is nice smooth clear plastic lense) ..from the looks of it, and the seal along the edge of the tail, it almost looks like the PO sprayed the tails with clear... ? no tint, just clear?... but a rattle can like clear.. it's not smooth.

i see a little tiny bit of delamination at the edge of one, but no this certainly seems almost like rattle can clear.... but WHY?

someone rattle can cleared your tails?

well it kinda looks that way... that's why i was wondering if there was some sort of coating on em or somethin.


it's not shiny clear though, like a matte finish...

mine shine pretty well

Sand them down and re clear or tint them!

First I've seen that. Original owner? If not my only assumption would be the last one poorly tried to protect them. I've had painted, tinted, and stripped tails and never saw that.

Definitely looks like the previous owner put clear on them to give them a wet look but did a horrible job. Definitely sand and clear the reflector and then sand, tint and clear the rest.

3rd owner. i was pretty sure that something was done to them... i can see a line on the rubber surround at the edge of the light where the coating stops.

just sand them down lightly and tint them... i personally think they look awesome tinted... i just did my altezzas and i love the way they look...
