So im driving down the freeway, 70-75mph, all of a sudden i see smoke (due to rear gasket having a crack), engine light turns on and pull off, sure enough oil all over the motor, see the dipstick out(as if it was pushed out).

leaking a bit of oil, tow it home, start it up to get it up the garage and the car is vibrating hard enough to shake the steering wheel(when in Drive, even worse)

So take off the rear gasket notice it was damaged replaced it, drained the oil and notice glitter shavings, figure it might be Pushrod? or anything internal.
Replaced oil and filter, turn it on and still same thing( now i definitely know its internal.)

and it tossed out a Misfire Code...

any idea what goes bad first in this scenario?

car is a 2002 GP with 160k miles on it, knew something was bound to go sooner or later... specially the way i drove that thing.

Thanks guys for looking.

Hi Guys,

First post on the forums (will get some pics together soon). Recently, purchased a 97 GTP for next to nothing and am very pleased with the performance thus far. Ultimately as I start to replace parts/modify the vehicle, my goal is to eventually trap about 105-110MPH in the quarter. What is the best upgrade path to get there? Will the trans take a dump long before those trap speeds? I have read a fair amount on upgrades but would like to hear some opinions.

Appreciate the help.

I found that there is no fuel pressure at the rail, so i checked voltage to the pump and i'm only getting 5 volts. First question should there be 12 volts ( the battery is fully charged). I replaced both relays and the fuse. I tried the high speed pump trick and i'm still getting 5 volts on the same wire on the connector. There isn't any check engine lights on, the secrurity lights isn't flashing. At first i thought it was the fuel pump but not now that im only getting 5 volts to the pump. Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

I am new to this forum and was hoping for some assistance or someone with the same issue. I have a 2005 GTP Comp G. I bought the car with 30,000 miles on it. Once in a great while, it would sputter when I would acclerate hard. I took it back to the dealer and they could not find anything wrong. That was about two years ago. It now does this everyday. Everytime I hit the gas hard, it gets up to about 3500rpm and sputters without shifting into the next gear. If I let off the gas, it shifts fine. I have seen several links with somewhat similar problems and it seems there could be several fixes for this like MAF sensor, CAT, and Shift Solinoid.
Any help would be much appreciated. This is my second GP and I absolutly love it.

a few questions, im developing an oil leak where theres a small puddle resting in the lower motor mount. i believe its coming from behind the crank pulley when i had to take it out to replace my CPS sensor. i think the gasket/seal thats wrapped around the crankshaft is broken and causing my oil leak.

what's that gasket/seal called? heres a pic for more clarification:

with crankshaft:

is it called the front main seal as found from zzp's website?

lastly how hard is it to replace the gasket/seal? do i need to take the front cover gasket off or just pull the gasket/seal out and swap in the new one(whatever its called)?

thanks in advance!!! i want this leak gone:th_thumbsup-wink::)

Hey, brand new here -- my low oil level light was off and on for about 3 weeks on my 1999 GTP S/C. Still had about 45% on my oil life left according to the dash. Then the oil warning light came on last night and I started hearing a knocking coming from the engine while driving home. I stopped at a light and the car sputtered and died. It started right back up and I made it home. I check the oil this morning, it was low. Added some oil. I left for work today -- all was good. until I got to the highway and I started hearing the knocking again. Then the oil warning light came on for a few minutes and then went off. I got to work, check the oil -- low again. I put some more oil in and it's held for now, but am still hearing that knocking sound when I rev the engine...I'm going to take her to the shop tomorrow, but if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them. Thanks!
