haha, anytime Reptile. if you have any questions along the way or if there's anything i can do to help just let me know
I think you pretty much answered any questions I would have had. I've got an Anniversary hood and louvers, I just didn't want to go through the pain of matching the paint. If I can just do this, I'll be happy...and I can just sell the hood that I have.
It's a bare brand spanking new hood. Never even made it to the assembly line.![]()
You are a whole lot more brave than I am. I wont even bend my fender well brace to put in a FWI and your on there marking up your hood, cutting and drilling, my hats off to you sir.
Great How to.

yea, i was on edge the whole time. There is still a "fitment" issue or two but since you have a hood that already has the holes cut in it from the factory, you'll be okay. And anyone else who happens to stumble upon this write up, if Whitcomb has made it over to this forum yet, he's the guy to talk to about getting a hood that's already cut from the factory or he might be able to just get you a set of extractors, i dunno. I think the stealership charges $1000 for just the hood, doesn't even include the extractors(scoops). Those are $250 apiece from the stealership. So, yeah, anthony whitcomb is the guy to talk to if you dont wanna get price raped
Well, once I get the car out of the way, I can make exact measurements and such. I just don't want to go through the price of paint an labor. While I may be able to do all of it myself, my current hood matches my car...I'd be upset if I ended up painting it several times to get the color to match.
Congrats on this Mod. You are much braver than I to have cut into the hood that way. Trust me I looked at mine for probably a year before I had a shop do it for me instead. I just couldn't bring myself to do it with no prior metal work (however that hadn't stopped me from cutting a hole in my dash for my HUD).
One question for you , did you get the drip tray that goes underneath the hood? The tray kinda locks onto the underside frame work of the hood and then from there you could drill the holes for the pegs on the vents. It seems like it would be an easier way to line the vents up.
This is at least what I was planning to do for mine. However like I said, I didn't actually do it so I don't know how well this method works.
Just throwing it out there.
Drew
Brave..
And thanks for a great write up

i iwsh i had the balls to cut into my hood like that!!!
i've got the special edition and i've had paint issues with those damn heat extractors. if it didn't look so damn sexy i would have sold the hood but instead i convinently got in a fender bender where they had to repaint it anway. i'm not a paint expert, but make sure you use proper prep when painting those plastic extractors.
