It happens. You'd be looking at a couple hundred bucks to replace them all at a shop.

Buy a roll or 3/16th" brake line and some line fittings, rent a flaring kit, and take a day to re-run your brake lines. $50 and some time and you'll be good to go.

It's not to bad once you get a few lines done. You just have to have the flare tool.

Thanks alot guys for your advice on the brake line job.Question my first mechanic upon looking at the problem, the leaking brake oil he said I might need a rack & pinion I said to him ARE YOU MAD all I do need is a brake line job.I took the car home jack it up and look under it and saw the leak coming from the rusted brake line, one of the line is over the boot for the rack & pinion. So I hope I do not have any leakes coming from the rack. When the job is done I will let you all know how things went .

you can always just patch the rusted area, cut it out replace it, or take the old line out and build a new one next to it. so its the same. once you use that flare tool 2 times its all easy. there a few different brands out there, they work mechanically different but the same job is the end result.

dont forget to put the nut on the line first lol it happens.

Did both rear lines on my pickup yesterday. When I first went to do a line..I had the Harbor Freight (cheap chinese tool store) flaring tool. That lasted one flare. I now own the Sears $55 flaring kit. Nice..works great every time. Use a quality tool and you'll find the job is easier.

One thing I'd mention. I had heard that connifer lines or NiCopp was better line, easier to bend without pinching etc. I used it for the first time yesterday. It's roughly double the cost of crappy steel line and it really is nicer and easier. Supposed to last longer...but who is going to have their car that long?

Read the directions/watch vids. I read up. Cut line about how long you need it..maybe longer. Then I use a file to clean the ends of the line. Put your ends on and flare both ends. If you want to prebend the line.. I do most of the bends except at the ends, ensure your fittings are on and have good flares, then bend the areas near them. Keeps you from not having enough tube to use your tool on.
