You have a seperate power lead for it correct?
If Dave feels 60% throttle is 100%, what does he tell his wife.
yes i do, but question still stands how it just stops working after months of it being in the obd2 port?

Did you wire it with add a fuse?If so have you checked the fuse you tapped? When I plugged mine up to the port without the power line it did the same as your describing.
Check the fuse you should have added. If you didn't, check the power source you did tap it into.
All else fails, replace the Cig lighter fuse (where most people tap theirs, it goes bad, and people scratch their heads)
