I have installed some aftermarket regulators before where they had the plug wiring backwards. It is completely fine to cut the plug off the motor and resplice the wires around the other way. The switch itself alternates one wire from hot and the other to ground and back and forth. This means the one that is hot going up becomes the ground going down, so switching the wires has no ill effect and will correct the problem of it working opposite of the switch position.
As for it not going up all the way, I need a little more specifics on "messed up" and maybe I can help you figure it out. Is it just stopping short, do you hear a grinding noise, is the glass binding and tilting towards the front? |
