    Question 4t65 Output Shaft Stuck

I am trying to get the output shaft out of the driver side of the 4t65, it's sticking out about 2 inches and I cannot get it out. I've tried prying and jabbing at it with a breaker bar, but my vice grips keep sliding off. Its very loose in that it wobbles from side to side. The inside of the axle has the female splines on it which makes me wonder if it even comes out. Does it?

I found this picture which seems to suggest it does not.

To answer for others that may search. Yes it does come out and should always be pulled out of the driverside, gently and slowly to minimize the risk of hurting the lube dam. Most likely the differential end of the output shaft circlip was catching on the lube dam, causing it to be held up. If you run into this issue you should pull the passenger side axle, diff housing and diff. Then goop the clip in a centered position and slide the output shaft out of the driverside.

I have a 2001 Gp GT and the drivers side axle is coming out too far while driving. The out put shaft is still connected to the cv shaft. Is there a clip off of the output shaft on the other end? Whats the best way to repair?

The output shaft (one that runs through the transmission) should be clipped into the differential at the other end. Try positioning the shaft in as much as possible and give it a slight whack inward. Be careful of tearing the boot on the CV of the axle. That should seat the output shaft back into the diff.

Or the Output shaft is installed backwards causing the axle not to seat the entire way.....Ask Bill how i know that one.....

^^^ Ask you about the manual valve as well....lol

I assumed that the output shaft hasn't been out of the transmissiona and it's not a fresh build, am I wrong?
