I have a 97 GTP and haven't had any problems with the transmission. Word on this forum is the 97 SE and GT have the crappy transmissions

I have a 97 Bonne.. same trans. I drove to 176K and then drove 12 hours to have it rebuilt. Still kicking like a champ when it was redone.

Mine is still running fine at 228k miles. Drive ~100 miles a day.
